PERSON-CENTRED SUPPORT

Support shaped around
what matters to you.

Overnight needs vary considerably. We discuss what happens during a typical night, how often assistance is expected and whether a sleeping or waking arrangement can meet the person’s needs safely.

Before care begins, we take time to understand needs, routines, preferences, risks and desired outcomes. Support is then recorded in an agreed care plan and reviewed when circumstances change.

WHAT SUPPORT CAN INCLUDE

Practical help,
delivered with dignity.

Every care arrangement is individual. Following assessment, support may include:

Support with bedtime and morning routines
Assistance with toileting and personal care
Repositioning where assessed and safely planned
Medication support where agreed
Reassurance when waking or feeling unsettled
Recording support and reporting relevant concerns
WHO IT MAY HELP

Is this support suitable?

Overnight care may help someone who needs planned assistance during the night or provide reassurance to the person and those close to them.

HOW WE WORK

Safe and clearly planned

The appropriate arrangement is determined through assessment. If needs change or the frequency of support is greater than planned, the care arrangement must be reviewed.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Things you may
want to ask.

We will discuss your circumstances directly and explain what can safely be provided.

What is the difference between sleeping and waking care?

A sleeping arrangement is based on limited expected assistance, while waking care requires the care worker to remain awake and available. Suitability is assessed individually.

Can overnight care be arranged every night?

Regular overnight care may be possible following assessment and confirmation of suitable staffing and availability.

Can overnight support include medication?

Yes, when the medication support is assessed, documented and provided by appropriately trained and competent staff.
